Made from 100% linen the Foghorn Station Sensory Handkerchief features a blue circle of French velvet ribbon to soothe your fidgeting fingers. The exquisitely metered corners are another source of sensory exploration and repetitive soothing. Our handkerchief also features a French velvet loop, with two surfaces to explore, from the soft velvet on top, and the twill underside, for you to hold, rub your fingers over, and also acts as hook for hanging on bags, doors, or, our very own brass handkerchief hook.
Before there were fidget spinners, plastic poppers, and chew necklaces etc there were handkerchiefs! Yes, handkerchiefs were the magic place of self soothing. Fingers found the hems, corners, and different fabrics to be a really layered place to calm an active brain into focus. Of course a handkerchief has many magical qualities and abilities, from wiping tears and noses, calming corners, carrying injured birds, shells, and flowers. Dogs also appreciate a soft linen handkerchief for wiping their eyes. The Handkerchief is a worthy companion on any physical or emotional adventure. No matter the territory the Handkerchief is helpful and kind.
A word on Linen
Linen is made from flax, and Belgium is famous for its beautiful flax plants and linen production. Using very little water, energy, or nutrients to grow, the whole plant is used creating zero waste. Flax is gentle on the soil so that it does not deplete the land of nutrients leaving ground able to be rotated in for other food crops.
Linen also boasts anti-bacterial qualities which make it an even more favorable handkerchief choice of our times.
This linen was produced using a specialized spinning process, and a cold-pad bath dyeing system, certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100.
Washing
These handkerchiefs have been through some rough testing, and while they will sustain a lot- our recommendation is for a gentle cold wash, and hang dry. If they do go in the dryer a delicate setting would be best.
Linen changes over time, so they will get even softer!
